In truth, Topaz was actually kidnapped by Laverna, the evil twin sister of the benevolent ruler of Fairytopia, the Enchantress. Laverna reveals that she incapacitated her sister with poison and plans to kidnap all seven Guardians of Fairytopia. Meanwhile, Laverna's henchmen will spread her mist-like formula across Fairytopia to weaken all winged creatures. With no other options, the residents of Fairytopia will turn to Laverna and crown her as queen.
In the morning, Elina and Bibble see that Peony, as well as all the other fairy homes in the meadow, are sick from Laverna's formula. Elina, Dandelion and Bibble decide to seek help from the next Guardian, Azura. But when they ask to be let in, Laverna's formula forces Dandelion to return home because she can no longer fly.
The next morning, as Azura is about to leave, she is kidnapped by a Fungus, one of Laverna's henchmen. Elina wakes up and is accused of being responsible for Azura's disappearance, but is saved by Hue, a giant butterfly. At Laverna's hideout, the Fungi arrive with Azura, but Laverna is angry when she finds her necklace missing. The Fungi tell Laverna that a wingless fairy has her. Since a wingless fairy would not be affected by her formula, Laverna orders the fungi to find Elina.
Hue and Elina are chased by Laverna's firebirds. They manage to escape when the merman Prince Nalu gives them seaweed that allows them to breathe underwater. When the group finally reaches Dahlia's house, she is hesitant to help as the other Guardians were suspicious of her, but Elina convinces them to do the right thing. Dahlia tells Elina that Laverna has found a way to siphon the powers of the Fairy Guardians' necklaces and transfer them to herself, explaining that the "Union Point" is their weak point.
The group arrives at Laverna's hideout and plans to go in and find the Unification Point, but Elina insists on going alone since she has Azura's necklace. While her friends create a distraction, Elina makes it inside. Elina finds the Guardians and their friends, trapped by the fungi. Laverna agrees to release her if Elina returns Azura's necklace, which she refuses, after which Laverna notices the rainbow in her eye. Laverna promises to give Elina wings if she returns Azura's necklace. Hypnotized, Elina approaches Azura with the necklace. The Unification Point - a crystal in Laverna's throne - begins to absorb power from the Guardians' necklaces. Just as Elina is about to return the necklace, Azura's words reach her and she wakes up from her trance. Rejecting Laverna's offer, Elina throws the necklace at the unification point, shattering it. The Guardians' powers overwhelm Laverna and she disappears.
Back in the magic meadow, the fairies and flowers are healed. Elina and her friends are visited by the restored enchantress. She thanks Elina and her friends for saving everyone and rewards them with her own magical necklace. The necklace magically gives Elina her own wings. Overjoyed, Elina and her friends fly away together.
